School Workshop | Physical | 2016
Overview
The main objective of this form workshop is to explore how we can redefine the design connection in a given product by altering the user experience and repositioning the product. The task is to create three alternative design variants: transform, modify, and enhance.
UX Research
Pain Point Analysis: After observing several uses of the gas torch, I identified three main pain points.
1. OVER MANY BUTTONS
There are too many buttons existing on the product, which make it complicated to operate.

CONTINUOUS GAS FLOW CONTROL ON/OFF BUTTON SAFETY LOCK
2. HARD TO PRESS BUTTON
Users have to use more strength to press the working button.

3. INCOHERENT APPEARANCE
As kitchenware, the shape of it is supposed to be more coherent and friendly.

IDEATION
The goal is to create several form variations of the product that look distinctly different but still represent the next generation of alternatives to the original design. These variants are informed by user experience research.
